The Israelis did not have an answer for a gentile - Alessandro Gentile, the Italian stud who scored 27 points to lead the way.

Gal Mekel led all scorers for Israel with 20 points in the losing cause. Omri Casspi, the Israeli forward and NBA star, managed just eight points.

The Israeli EuroBasket campaign, which began with such promise after stunning victories over Russia and Finland in the group stage, ends in disappointment for Erez Edelstein's crew.
