A 17-year-old Netivot resident was in critical condition on Tuesday, after grabbing a gun from his school's security guard and shooting himself in the head.
The pupil was evacuated to Soroka Hospital in Beersheba, Zaka reported.
The school principal told Channel 1 that he was familiar with the boy and his family.
"If there was any person I could imagine who would do such a thing as this, he would be the last one," said the principal.
"He is an intelligent and talented boy...who does volunteer work in the community and is accepted by his classmates."
