40 Sudanese refugees arrive in Negev town of Omer

IDF troops evacuated 40 Sudanese refugees who infiltrated Israel to the industrial area of Omer on the outskirts of Beersheba, Israel Radio reported Sunday afternoon. Omer Regional Council provided the refugees with food and drink, and was instructed by Jerusalem to move them by buses for temporary housing in Beersheba, until the state decided on further actions. Prime Minister Ehud Olmert instructed Sunday to establish a special security force the sole purpose of which was to prevent infiltrators from entering Israel's southern border.
