Around 45 percent of the Jewish population in Israel believes that the decision to reexamine the Police Investigative Department's ruling on the October 2000 riots is a mistake. The PID opted not to prosecute any security personnel for the deaths of 13 Israeli-Arabs. A poll conducted by Mutagim on behalf of the "Mossawa" Advocacy Center for Arab Citizens in Israel found that more than 40% of Jews think Arabs were responsible for the eruption of the riots. Then-prime minister Ehud Barak, along with security forces, were responsible, according to 15% of those surveyed. About 60% of Jewish citizens believe that there is racism against the Arab sector within Israel, Army Radio cited.
