Abbas criticizes Israel, urges Palestinians to plant olive trees

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas called for international intervention in the West Bank in light of recent attacks targeting olive harvesters, Israel Radio reported Sunday. In a Ramallah press conference, Abbas criticized Israel, saying not enough was being done to prevent the attacks, and encouraged Palestinians to plant olive trees in response to these acts of violence. The PA president vowed he would personally fund the planting of one million trees in the West Bank.
