Afula must compensate engineer

State Comptroller Micha Lindenstrauss, in his capacity as ombudsman, ordered the Afula Municipality to compensate a civil engineer for not inviting him to appear before a committee responsible for examining all the candidates who met the qualifications for the job. The city explained that the candidate was too old and could not stay in the job long enough. But Lindenstrauss ruled that staying in the job long enough was not specified as a job requirement and that the candidate had been discriminated against.
