Army Radio: Ofer Dekel finalizing details of prisoner swap with Hizbullah

Ofer Dekel, the official charged by Prime Minister Ehud Olmert with dealing with the issue of the kidnapped soldiers, is abroad to finalize details of a deal with Hizbullah to free Ehud Goldwasser and Eldad Regev, Army Radio reported Sunday. As part of the deal, Israel would reportedly release jailed Hizbullah terrorist Samir Kuntar as well as four other Lebanese prisoners. Until now, the government has had an official policy that Kuntar would not be released for anything short of definitive proof as to the fate of aviator Ron Arad. But the radio station reported that no such information could be obtained as part of the deal, and that Olmert would meet with Arad's family to notify them of this.
