Heavy fog delays flights from Ben-Gurion Airport

Thousands stranded as weather conditions ground flights; arriving planes redirected to Jordan, Cyprus.

Heavy fog delayed flights leaving Ben-Gurion International Airport and forced incoming flights to land in airports in Amman, Cyprus, Greece and Turkey on Tuesday morning.
Airport authorities were requesting that travelers check the status of their flights prior to setting out for the airport.

The fog was expected to lift at approximately 11:00 AM on Tuesday.
The delays in departures and arrivals began early on Tuesday morning, around 2:00 AM.
Thousands of travelers who had their flights delayed were stranded at Ben-Gurion Airport on Tuesday.
