IDF Chief of General Staff Lt.-Gen. Gabi Ashkenazi said he was opposed to granting a pardon to the assassin of former prime minister Yitzhak Rabin, Yigal Amir. In an interview with Israel Radio ahead of the 12th anniversary of Rabin's death, Ashkenazi said the IDF was still internalizing the lessons of the assassination, which was aimed at changing diplomatic processes.
