Ashkenazi supports change of criteria for prisoners 'with blood on hands'

The government should reconsider changing the criteria for the definition of a prisoner "with blood on his hands," IDF Chief of General Staff Lt. -Gen. Gabi Ashkenazi told a ministerial committee on Sunday. The special committee discussing alleviations that could help reach deals for the release of captured soldiers failed to achieve a consensus during their second meeting in the matter, which focused mainly on Palestinian prisoners who were on a list as per the demands of Cpl. Gilad Schalit's kidnappers. Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) head Yuval Diskin, who has voiced his disagreement with the move, warned against making changes to criteria. Diskin told Army Radio that such action would bring about the release of masses of prisoners.
