Ben-Eliezer: Israeli people prepared to pay price for true peace with Syria

The people of Israel are prepared to pay a price for true peace Syria and "we know the required price," National Infrastructures Minister Binyamin Ben-Eliezer said Friday on a visit to Turkey. Ben-Eliezer thanked Turkey for its mediation efforts in the Israel-Syria negotiations and asked the country to help in talks to secure the release of captured IDF soldier Gilad Schalit. Concerning Iran, the minister said that Israel would overcome every threat and that it knew how to defend itself. Nevertheless, said Ben-Eliezer, Sunni Muslim countries, Gulf states, North African nations and even European countries should worry more about the Iranian nuclear threat. Ben-Eliezer was in Ankara to advance his plan on the construction of a natural gas pipeline that would stretch from Turkey to Israel and increase Israel's energy sources.
