Tony Blair was scheduled to meet President Shimon Peres next Tuesday, Peres's office said Thursday, in the first indication on the timing of the newly appointed Middle East envoy's maiden visit to the region.
The former British prime minister was meeting in Portugal on Thursday with representatives of the Middle East Quartet - the United States, United Nations, European Union and Russia.
Israeli officials declined to say when Blair would arrive.
