Brothers convicted in honor killing sentenced to life

The Haifa District Court on Wednesday sentenced two brothers convicted in an honor killing to life in prison. Anwar and Hassan Salama of the village of Marar, were convicted of conspiracy to commit a crime and kidnapping their 21-year-old sister, in addition to their conviction for her murder. According to the indictment, the brothers conspired to kill their sister after they discovered that she had a boyfriend. The two arrived at their parents' house and convinced her to go with them to the home of a friend, where they would "work out" her relationship with her boyfriend. The brothers turned off the road into the Moran forest, locked the car's doors and windows, and choked their sister to death. Afterwards, they removed her from the car, covered her mouth and nose with tape, and placed her body in a nearby ditch.
