The cabinet decided in a meeting on Sunday to change the name of the ministry responsible for environmental protection from the "Ministry for Environmental Quality" to the "Ministry for Environmental Protection."
Environment Minister Gideon Ezra explained that the name change was due to the change in the mission of the ministry.
"The new name is a better fit for the ministry's goals as we understand them today," Ezra told cabinet members following the motion's approval. "The environment in Israel needs protection, and we are protecting it every day around the clock," Ezra declared.
