Dichter slams Friedmann's criticism of police in Olmert case

Public Security Minister Avi Dichter backed the police Monday, following criticism leveled at the organization by Justice Minister Daniel Friedmann for its recommendation to indict Prime Minister Ehud Olmert. In radio interviews earlier Monday, Friedmann had accused the police of seeking to oust Olmert. "This is not the case, not even a little bit, and I am sure Minister Friedmann, like all of us, knows this very well," said Dichter at a press conference in Tel Aviv. "The Israel Police did its job from the first commander to the last investigator," he said. "I was shocked to hear the comments of the justice minister, one of my coalition partners, who is also meant to be my partner in defending the law enforcement authorities," continued Dichter.
