Egyptian opposition protests natural gas deal with Israel

The Egyptian opposition has demanded that the parliament convene for an emergency session Sunday to discuss a natural gas export deal reached with Israel earlier this week.
Israel Radio reported Saturday that a Muslim Brotherhood parliamentarian rejected the Egyptian government's claim that private companies would provide the gas and not the state.
He said the decision to provide Egyptian gas to Israel was tragic and needed to be stopped.
The Israeli-Egyptian pipeline operator East Mediterranean Gas Co. (EMG) reached a deal with Israel Electric Company (IEC) to export the gas. The deal is worth an estimated 4 billion dollars over 20 years.
