OC Intelligence Maj.-Gen. Aharon Ze'evi (Farkash) on Wednesday accused Hizbullah of initiating last week's attacks in order to provoke Israel to return fire, such that Lebanese civilians may be harmed.
According to Farkash, Hizbullah hoped that would give them the excuse to attack Israeli strategic installations, Israel Radio reported. Speaking at the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, he stressed that Iran and Syria were behind the incident.
