Fire brigade chief in the North detained over embezzlement suspicions

Commander of the Tveria Fire Brigade was detained Monday over suspicion of embezzling the brigade's funds, Israel Radio reports. The commander, Yigal Hever, a high-ranking officer, was the focus of a covert police investigation for several months. On Monday morning his house and the fire station under his command were raided by detectives. Evidence was collected at both scenes, and Hever himself was taken into custody.
