Yaakov Toren, former director general of the Defense Ministry, passed away suddenly on Tuesday from heart failure.
Toren, 69, was appointed to the post by former defense minister Shaul Mofaz in September 2005. He was replaced in July by former deputy chief of staff Maj.-Gen. (res.) Gabi Ashkenazi.
