Former Hadera mayor starts prison sentence

Former Hadera mayor Yisrael Sadan began serving his prison sentence in Ma'asiyahu prison on Sunday, Army Radio reported. Sadan was convicted on charges of handing out bribes to widen his coalition in the municipality. Several weeks earlier, Sadan was sentenced to eight months in prison and seven months suspended sentence. Additionally the former mayor was fined 60,000 NIS for giving bribes during his term as mayor. Another man involved in the case will be sent to five months in prison. Two other men involved in the case were convicted with suspended sentence.
