Former Sephardi chief rabbi suffers stroke after being resuscitated in hospital

Former Sephardi chief rabbi Mordechai Eliahu suffered a stroke on Wednesday in the midst of being treated for his heart problems, which on Tuesday caused him to go into clinical death.
Eliahu, 79, had gone to Jerusalem's Shaare Zedek Medical Center for a checkup, about a month after he was hospitalized there for a heart attack and a week after he had been discharged in good condition.
Shaare Zedek doctors resuscitated him after his heart stopped, but after the stroke, he remains in very serious condition in the intensive care unit.
