The Open House made a request on Sunday that the Israel Police allow them to hold a Gay Pride Parade in Jerusalem. Ayelet Snur, head of Open House, said that the event, which is scheduled to take place this June, is intended as an event for the gay community and as a demonstration of human rights. Snur commented on the importance of such an event in light of the violent outbreaks related to last year's event. Orthodox representatives have already made their anger at the subject clear. Yehuda Meshi-Zahav, Chairman of ZAKA (Disaster Victims Identification) and one of the leading opposes to the parade, said that "there is no question that the city will ignite, it's a shame people don't learn the lesson from last years events, the struggle this year will make sure that the event organizers will not want to repeat the event ever again. The Pride Parade is normally held on a yearly basis in June, but last year due to the violent dispute the event was rescheduled to November and held in a closed stadium.
