A Hamas spokesman on Thursday accused Israel of threatening "collective punishment" against the Palestinians once the Hamas takes power.
Mushir al-Masri, an incoming Hamas lawmaker, also dismissed reports that Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas will force the group to recognize Israel. He expressed confidence Hamas would find a "common understanding" with Abbas.
Israeli officials on Thursday said they are planning tough economic measures against the Palestinians after the new Hamas-led parliament is sworn into office on Saturday.
