Chairman of the health basket committee Prof. Mordehai Shani threatened on Sunday that he would resign if the government discusses an abbreviated budgetary increase of NIS 200 million.
The sum, agreed upon by the Finance Ministry, constituted less than half of what the committee demanded. If accepted, the increase in the budget would allow the introduction of only seven of the 22 drugs recommended by the committee.
Shani told Army Radio that he did not intend to discuss the matter in the government meeting on Sunday if they would only consider NIS 200 million.
