The Teachers' Union announced a country-wide high school strike on Thursday, Israel Radio reported. Union representatives said the strike will take place in protest of a projected reform in the education system. In 6-Year schools, the strike will include the 10th through 12th grades, while in 4-year schools also 9th graders will enjoy a day off. Elementary schoolchildren will study as usual. The Finance Ministry said the strike is surprising since the ministry and the union were in the process of negotiating the reform.
