An apparent terror attack on the Erez border crossing was foiled late Monday night. Army Radio reported that three gunmen were spotted approaching the border fence and were on their way to the Erez terminal when an IAF aircraft fired a missile at them. Givati Brigade soldiers then opened fire on the armed men and the army confirmed that the three were killed. The troops found anti-tank missiles, rifles and grenades in the gunmen's possession, the IDF said. Givati Brigade soldiers were also operating in Beit Hanun early Monday morning and clashed with a number of Hamas gunmen. At least two were killed. The troops also detained 30 Palestinians for questioning. In addition, two Palestinians were killed in two separate air strikes in the southern Gaza town of Rafah and in the northern town of Beit Hanun. Also Monday, a four-year-old boy was lightly wounded when a Kassam rocket fired from Gaza struck his home in a western Negev kibbutz. The boy was hurt by shrapnel and was treated on the scene by Magen David Adom medics. An additional five Kassams were fired into Israel throughout the day.
