IDF officer dismissed in killing of Tulkarm girl

An IDF probe into the death of 14-year-old Duaa Abdulqader by Israeli fire in Tulkarm last week led to disciplinary action against several IDF officers on Sunday. Following the investigation, which was headed by OC Central Command Maj.-Gen. Yair Naveh, into the shooting, the Nahshon Battalion squadron commander was dismissed from his position, while the company commander received a reprimand. The soldier who fired the shot was suspended. A military police investigation into the incident was still underway. The shooting occurred last week when troops on a routine patrol identified a suspicious figure and engaged in arrest procedures. When the figure did not respond, the company commander fired in the air; however, the soldier, who thought they were dealing with a terrorist, shot and wounded the girl. She later died of the wounds.
