The replacement of IDF Deputy Chief of General Staff Maj.-Gen. Moshe Kaplinski by Maj.-Gen. Dan Harel will be postponed for several weeks, Army Radio reported on Wednesday night. According the Army Spokesman, the official reason for the delay was Kaplinski's decision, for personal reasons, to push off his trip to Harvard University in the US, where he was to study in a defense program. However, it was possible that the delay was due to the current tension over Syria, and a consequent reluctance in the IDF to make changes in important posts, the report said.
