IDF soldiers shot and killed three Palestinian gunmen in the Gaza Strip on Wednesday, the IDF and Palestinian doctors said. Hamas said the dead men were members of the Islamist group. The troops identified the two gunmen near the fence surrounding the Gaza Strip near the Karni crossing into Israel, the army said. The soldiers briefly entered the Gaza Strip, exchanged fire with the gunmen and killed them, the army said. Palestinian doctors confirmed that two men in Hamas uniforms had arrived dead at the hospital. In the second incident, soldiers opened fire at two armed men approaching the fence near the Erez passenger crossing north of Karni, hitting one, the army said. Hamas said one operative was killed and two others were wounded. Palestinian gunmen are frequently killed in such clashes in the area of the fence. Also overnight Tuesday, a soldier was lightly wounded in Nablus when Palestinians opened fire at IDF troops. Bombs were thrown at the soldiers in the operation in which five terror suspects were arrested. Eight other Palestinian terror suspects were arrested in overnight operations elsewhere in the West Bank. An IDF jeep was damaged when troops were attacked with Molotov cocktails during one of the operations but no one was wounded, Israel Radio reported.
