Israel, US discuss possible Palestinian violence

Israel and the United States have begun joint discussions on a planned course of action in case Palestinian violence erupts in connection with the upcoming elections scheduled for January 25. Israeli representatives insisted that the State would not agree to a Palestinian government that included Hamas in its current form, Army Radio reported. Still, in a government meeting scheduled for Sunday, Israel was expected to permit voting for the Palestinian Legislative Council in east Jerusalem. The decision was expected to allow eligible voters living in the capital to cast their voices in ballots placed in local post offices.
