An Israeli Arab resident of the North was arrested by the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) last month after she was allegedly recruited by Hizbullah, it was released for publication on Tuesday. The suspect was indicted on Tuesday for maintaining contact with a foreign enemy agent. She was arrested at the Allenby Bridge on June 30 as she returned to Israel from Jordan. She told investigators she had been asked to join Hizbullah while studying dentistry at the University of Amman in 2003, by a fellow student who introduced herself as a Hizbullah operative responsible for recruiting Israeli Arabs.

  • 'Hizbullah's military might is restored' The suspect said that Hizbullah ordered her to transfer cellular phones and USB keys to Hizbullah agents in Israel. A number of weeks after her recruitment, the suspect completed her studies in Jordan and prepared to return to Israel. She was given a portable computer hard disk that she was supposed to pass on to other operatives in Israel. The suspect visited Jordan a number of times in 2004, and she continued to contact her recruiter from 2005 to 2007.
