J'lem refuses to confirm planned Haniyeh hit

Jerusalem officials refused to confirm a report by the A-Sinara newspaper Friday that the security cabinet had decided to assassinate deposed Palestinian Authority prime minister Ismail Haniyeh of Hamas. Nevertheless, the officials stressed to Israel Radio that Israel had already clearly stated that no member of Hamas was immune to being targeted. A-Sinara claimed that Defense Minister Ehud Barak and the security cabinet approved the hit on Haniyeh and transferred the assassination plan to the security establishment for execution.
