A Kassam rocket fired from the Gaza Strip hit and damaged a factory warehouse in Sderot's industrial zone on Saturday afternoon. No one was wounded in the attack. According to Israel Radio, the incoming rocket failed to trigger the city's early warning system. Following the incident, Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas said that the Palestinian security establishment should act to stop rocket attacks on Israel, allowing the Palestinians to live in "security and dignity." Abbas spoke at a ceremony in Gaza City for new recruits to the Presidential Guard, Israel Radio reported. Meanwhile, Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmad Aboul Gheit condemned the IAF air strike overnight Friday that killed an armed Palestinian who, the IDF said, was placing a bomb near the Gaza security fence. Two other Palestinians were wounded in the strike. According to the IDF, other operatives had been spotted two days earlier planting explosives in the same area. The Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine, a small group, said the men were "on a holy mission" when they were hit. The army said groups had planted more than 40 bombs along the border since the cease-fire declaration. Meanwhile, responding to Palestinian allegations that the shooting early Saturday morning of Aksa Martyrs Brigades commander Zakariya Zubeidi in Jenin had been intentional, the IDF said Saturday that the shooting was not an assassination attempt. Palestinian sources reported earlier that Zubeidi had sustained a hit to the shoulder and was in stable condition. The IDF confirmed that soldiers had shot and wounded him during operations in the city. Also in Jenin, Palestinians fired at soldiers and detonated a large explosive device near an IDF jeep. No one was wounded and no damage caused.
