A homemade Kassam rocket landed in the northern Negev town of Sderot Tuesday night, the IDF reported. There were no reports of casualties or damage, the army said.
Sderot had been the target of numerous rocket attacks in the past.
The Islamic Jihad terror group had promised to avenge the killing of one of its top West Bank leaders in a shootout with Israeli troops on Monday.
The group launched two homemade rockets into Israel hours after the killing. Israel responded with a series of airstrikes at empty fields used to launch rockets and other targets.
There was no immediate military response to Wednesday's rocket attack.
