Kiryat Shmona mayor convicted on corruption charges

The Nazareth Magistrates' Court convicted Kiryat Shmona Mayor Haim Barbibai on corruption charges on Monday. Barbibai was convicted of bribery and breach of trust. According to the indictment, Barbibai contacted businessmen and contractors from the North, requesting that they foot a debt he had accrued at a printing house. The prosecution is expected to demand that the court rule that the actions constitute moral turpitude.
