MK Yoel Hasson nominated former prime minister Ariel Sharon for the 2007 Israel Prize in light of his substantial contribution to the State of Israel, Army Radio reported on Tuesday evening.
Hasson wrote that Sharon was "an exceptional soldier all through the chain of command, a hero of the Yom Kippur War, an admired general, a member of Knesset and a minister for years, and one of the most popular prime ministers in the history of the State of Israel, [making him] the man most worthy of the Israel Prize."
