MK Melchior, Abbas discuss religion in Ramallah

Palestinian Chairman Mahmoud Abbas and Labor MK Rabbi Michael Melchior held a meeting in Ramallah Wednesday during which they discussed various theological issues relevant to both Islam and Judaism and the role religion has played during the Israel-Palestinian conflict. Palestinian news agency Wafa said that Melchior voiced his support for recent Middle East peace initiatives, including the Arab initiative recently approved by the Arab League. Sheikh Abdallah Nimr Darwish, the founder and leader of the Islamic Movement, was also present at the talks.
