State Control Committee head Zevulun Orlev called on Prime Minister Ehud Olmert to suspend himself following Attorney-General Menahem Mazuz's decision on Monday to open a criminal probe against him.
"In no civilized country does the prime minister serve while under a bundle of criminal investigations," Orlev said.
"Instead of busying himself with gestures to the Palestinians and releasing terrorists, the prime minister should wish the Israeli public a good year and suspend himself immediately," he said.
