MK Sharon's request to postpone hearing denied

The Tel Aviv Magistrate's Court on Thursday rejected a request made by MK Omri Sharon to postpone his sentencing hearing until after the 2006 election. The hearing will be held as scheduled, on January 23. Sharon noted that he did not intend to run for the Knesset in the next elections, and that his request was intended to prevent any damage that the proceedings could cause his father, Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, in his bid to win re-election.
