"A deal to secure the release of captured IDF soldier Cpl. Gilad Schalit won't be reached in the near future," MK Ahmed Tibi (UAL) said on Sunday following his meeting the previous day with Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas. "Abbas spoke at length about the issue. He spoke of progress and a draft plan but not about closing a deal," Tibi told Army Radio. Tibi went on to say that the new PA unity government was not controlling all the terror groups in the Palestinian territories and, therefore, did not have the power to bring about an end to the current crisis.
