Meretz sources expressed their belief Tuesday that MK Yossi Sarid would quit the party shortly. They expected their former chairman to announce his departure before the next faction meeting on Sunday.
Sarid told Israel Radio that he had not yet made up his mind on the topic.
The veteran left-wing party was previously chairman of Meretz until he stepped down following the severe electoral blow his party experienced during the latest parliamentary elections in 2003.
