Opposition head Binyamin Netanyahu proposed Wednesday to double teachers' wages, expand the authority given to school principals and raise the criteria for acceptance to teaching positions, Israel Radio reported.
Netanyahu also recommended that a new program on Israeli heritage, Zionism and democracy be introduced to the national educational curriculum.
The Likud chair presented his educational reform program to Russian-language media only.
