Nine Givati infantry soldiers abandoned their unit in the middle of an operation near Ramallah Friday.
The veteran company soldiers served in the past under captain R., the officer acquitted of verifying the killing of 13-year-old Iman al-Hams who was charged with the crime based on the false testimony by several soldiers under his command.
According to Israel Radio, the new company commander rescinded the preferential serving conditions traditionally provided to more veteran soldiers, leading the soldiers to carry out what was apparently an act of protest.
