Nitzanim, founded to provide an interim housing solution for Gaza evacuees, could become a permanent community. A hundred days post-disengagement, the government will discuss the development possibilities for the Nitzanim area. Proposals include sale of 2000 plots for private construction, 800 of which will be earmarked for Gush Katif evacuees, and the rest of which will be open for purchase by any Israeli. Evacuees will pay some $80,000 for plots whose size varies from 330 - 500 square meters, whereas new residents from other areas of the country will pay approximately three times that sum, Army Radio reported.
