Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said Sunday that the appointment of an Arab minister to the government was an event full of positive significance, and that it was about time such an event occurred, Israel Radio reported.
Olmert was referring to the Labor Party's nomination of Arab MK Ghaleb Majadleh to replace MK Ophir Paz-Pines as science, culture and sport minister.
Olmert said he intended to finish filling the ministerial positions for Labor and Israel Beiteinu parties within the next few days.
