"Israel has no intention or ability to shield itself in a panic," Prime Minister Ehud Olmert told the Knesset's State Control Committee, Monday.
Olmert made the statement in a meeting devoted to State Comptroller Micha Lindenstrauss report on the performance of the home front during the Second Lebanon War.
Lindenstrauss, who was present at the meeting, criticized the government for its conduct and its decision making process during the war.
