Olmert agrees to add NIS 2.9 billion for Defense

Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and Defense Minister Ehud Barak agreed on an addition of NIS 2.9 billion to the defense budget, Channel 10 reported on Wednesday. The agreement was reached after a long negotiation headed by Barak, who requested an additional NIS 7 billion. NIS 500 million are expected to be added as early as the 2008 budget, and the rest will be added in the 2009 budget.
