Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said Sunday that he would "fight with all [his] might" that Vice Premier Shimon Peres became Israel's new president.
Contradicting Kadima members' claims that the fact that Peres did not back the government has harmed his chances of the PM backing him, Olmert said that "there is no candidate more suitable [than Peres] for president."
The PM was to seek approval from Kadima for the candidacy.
