Prime Minister Ehud Olmert on Monday invited Lebanese prime minister to begin peace talks, said that Mahmoud Abbas was a "legitimate partner" for peace talks and said he was ready to meet immediately with the Palestinian president.
Olmert made the comments in a speech at the opening of the winter session of the Knesset. In the speech, Olmert said he would not speak to Hamas until the group accepts international demands to renounce violence and recognize Israel.
