Olmert spokesman: State leaking info on probe to 'brief' Talansky

The police and the state prosecution are deliberately leaking new information on Prime Minister Ehud Olmert's investigation to the media in an attempt to "brief" Morris Talansky ahead of his July 17 cross-examination, a spokesman for the prime minister told Army Radio on Wednesday. According to Amir Dan, hired by Olmert to handle public relations for the Talansky affair, the investigating bodies are using the media to convey information to the New York businessman ahead of the cross-examination, because they are forbidden by law to contact him before that time. "This is a method [intended to] coordinate versions through repeated leaks to the media," Dan said. "This method will undoubtedly be investigated, but it must be stopped immediately."
